John Pollard, the
owner-manager of 5.12 Construction, Inc., San Francisco Garage
Company and Mercury Engineering Group, is a 3rd generation contractor
with over 20 years of experience in residential and commercial
construction. He currently holds active California contractor licenses
in General Building, Concrete, Electrical, Plumbing and General
Engineering.
John’s goal is to offer his clients a “turn key”
operation by taking their project from the planning stage all the way
to completion of construction and final sign off. He has the expertise
and knowledge to handle any project whether it be new construction,
renovations, remodels, seismic upgrades or garages.
Being a “hands on”
kind of guy, it is not uncommon to see John on the job site directing
his Project Managers and craftsmen or even pitching in and doing the
work himself when needed. In addition, John is able to design garages,
renovations and remodels for San Francisco Victorian and Edwardian
buildings that will enhance their beauty and fit in with the
surrounding architecture in a non-intrusive manner.
John has many years of experience working with the San Francisco
Building Department and Department of Public Works and has an excellent
working relationship with the planners and inspectors. He understands
the process and knows how to get things done in a timely manner. John
attends SFBD and DPW hearings on a regular basis in order to stay up
with the current issues that are being addressed. His vast knowledge
of the SF Building code makes him a virtual walking encyclopedia of
information and with his team of engineers and permit expediters he is
able to “fast track” projects through the permitting process.
John is a community minded guy and he considers conservation of our environment of paramount
importance and does everything he can to make a difference in this
area.
In addition, John is on the school board for a private school that has a blind needs admission policy where 75% of the students receive assistance from financial aid. John wants every student to have the opportunity for a first rate education no matter what their economic status might be.
